Chelsea appeared as a surprise opponent in the battle to get Mauricio Pochettino from Tottenham, the Sunday Express reports.
Argentina would be the first candidate to take over at Manchester United at the end of the season, but Real Madrid has long admired his work at the Spurs.
Having recently attended a dive under the direction of Maurizio Sarri, Chelsea would be the last club to watch it.
If the club fails to qualify for the Champions League next season, Sarri's time at Stamford Bridge will be reduced to one year. Pochettino is one of the Blues' board favorites.
