The 7th Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana was dissolved at midnight.
This is in accordance with Article 113 (1) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
The dissolution paves the way for the inauguration of the 8th Parliament of the Fourth Republic and the investiture of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the president elected on January 7, 2021.
President Akufo-Addo delivered his last state-of-the-nation speech on Tuesday, January 5, in accordance with article 67 of the Constitution.
