Liverpool erased the disappointment of last season's Champions League final defeat by winning the trophy for the sixth time with the victory over Tottenham in Madrid.
It's Mohamed Salah, a character so inconsolable when he's injured early in this defeat against Real Madrid, who gave Liverpool the advantage by a penalty kick after two minutes when Moussa Sissoko was been punitively punished for handball.
In a final that rarely hit the top of the blockbuster semifinals that made this event a success for the Premier League, the Spurs had opportunities but were disappointed by Alisson, the Liverpool goalie, saved by Son Heungmin , Lucas Moura and Christian Eriksen.
And their failure to capitalize was ruthlessly punished when substitute Divock Origi badured his manager Jurgen Klopp to win his first trophy as Liverpool manager by beating down and powerfully Hugo Lloris three minutes from the end.
His Spurs counterpart, Mauricio Pochettino, has selected England captain and forward Harry Kane, who has not played since April because of an ankle injury, replacing semi-finalist Lucas Moura, but had no impact.
Liverpool won the trophy that was taken from him last season in Ukraine and now ranks behind Real Madrid and AC Milan as the series winners of the tournament. The final whistle gave rise to great celebrations among the players, the leadership and the red wave of fans at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
