Joel Matip has given Liverpool a major boost by returning to full training ahead of the weekend’s clash with Manchester United.
Matip was among those pictured as the Reds were put to the test in Kirkby on Friday in preparation for Sunday’s game at Anfield.
The Cameroonian was out for the last three games after limping against West Bromwich Albion on December 27 due to an adductor problem.
Jurgen Klopp spoke earlier today about giving Matip every chance of being available for the visit of Premier League managers, United.
And the Reds are hoping the center-back has a final session on Saturday and persuades Klopp he can line up alongside Fabinho in the heart of the defense.
Otherwise, the Liverpool boss will choose between Rhys Williams, Nat Phillips and Jordan Henderson to partner with the Brazilian.

Another notable presence in Kirkby was Kostas Tsimikas, who has not played since a Champions League knee injury in rubber who died at FC Midtjylland on December 9.
Liverpool can return to the top of the Premier League on goal difference ahead of United if they win what will be Klopp’s 200th league game in charge of the club.
