Jurgen Klopp said Liverpool would not sign Bruno Fernandes this summer.
Portuguese international midfielder Fernandes scored one goal and created another to help Sporting Lisbon get a 2-2 draw against the Reds at Yankee Stadium in New York on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old sparked a heated debate over his future earlier this week when he said he would like to play in the Premier League.
Liverpool has long been tied to some players with an interest in the player valued at £ 60 million, although Klopp insisted that it was unlikely that big money maneuvers would be important this summer .

And after being questioned about the possibility that Fernandes moved to Manchester United, who are clearly favorites for his signature, the Reds boss said, "If he does, we'll face him.
"He is obviously a very good player. They already have some very good players, which will probably make them stronger.
"This is not good, but to be honest, it 's not our cup of tea (United' s transfer activity).
Speaking after the match, sports director Marcel Keizer admitted that Fernandes could leave before closing the transfer porthole.

"We know that he plays very well and that clubs like him and we have to see what happens.
"It's the job of the coach. You realize that some players can go there. Every player can go there. Wait and watch. "
