Jurgen Klopp thinks that Ybader Larouci was "lucky" not to suffer from a more serious injury after the horror challenge that overshadowed Liverpool's return to Fenway Park.

The Reds are waiting to know the extent of the damage inflicted on Larouci after a brutal foul that saw Sevilla's replacement Joris Gnagnon sacked 14 minutes from time of the 2-1 defeat in Boston on Sunday.

The 18-year-old left the stadium with crutches with a tight right leg and it is now unlikely that he will be part of the last game of the US tour against Sporting Lisbon in New York on Wednesday.

And Klopp chose to retain his lawyer during the dismissal debate, the low point of a controversial match in which Sevilla's Ever Banega could also have been punished for elbowing Harry Wilson.

"(It is) far too early in the season to make headlines with what I think of the situation," said Klopp.

"Let me tell you what's the situation with Ybader. it looks like he's been lucky, but of course, as is always the case with these things, we have to wait a bit.

"He could not keep playing, so this is the first sign that is not so good, but in the locker room it was fine, just as it sounds like Harry.

"Harry got a jaw shot and a finger to the eye, so not too cool. He should also be fine but could not continue too. That's the situation. "

Klopp added about the tackle on Larouci: "He hit him hard, and at that moment (if it was) a different position where he hit him, it's done.

"I do not know 100%. It looks like he was lucky, but I only spoke quickly to the doc and that's what he said, but you have to see.
