Jordan Henderson admits that Manchester United legend Roy Keane has followed him throughout his career.
The Liverpool captain hopes to emulate Keane by lifting the Champions League this weekend when the Reds will face Tottenham in Madrid.
Liverpool have already beaten PSG, Bayern Munich and Porto, but their win in the semifinal against Barcelona was the most impressive.
Liverpool was beaten 3-0 at Nou Camp after a superb performance by Lionel Messi but fought to win 4-0 at the return leg at Anfield.
Despite his admiration for Barcelona's talisman, Henderson refused to ask for his shirt.
And his reasoning comes from the moment he played under the legend of Manchester United, Keane, during his visit to Sunderland.
"Did I think about asking for his shirt?" No, I never did, "Henderson told the Mail.
"Roy Keane told me, when I was in Sunderland, that if you asked someone for a shirt, it would seem that you are afraid of it."
Henderson did not go home empty handed since he ended up swapping shirts with a former teammate.
Luis Suarez scored against his former club and was laughed at his return to Anfield but for Henderson, there is no resentment.
"In the end, I got home with Luis Suarez's shirt, Luis is a good boy and he did it for me because we played together in Liverpool, I do not know. that he did with mine, "he added.
Liverpool will face Tottenham in the Champions League final in Madrid, while he was trying to do better than last season after losing to Real in Kiev.
