Stan Collymore claimed that Chelsea "deserves all that came" if they decided to sack Maurizio Sarri.
The Blues appeared to be in contention for the title in the first few months, but their form has deteriorated in recent weeks.
Having lost to Bournemouth 4-0 at the end of January, the FA Cup holders continued their victory over Huddersfield Town with a humble 6-0 defeat of Man City.
Chelsea now ranks sixth in the Premier League standings and many have called the Italian to lose his job after a disastrous training session.
However. The former England international believes the club needs to support the manager and has appointed five players who have to stay in West London while Sarri is looking to form his own team.
"If they got rid of him, they would deserve everything that happened to them in the next few years," he wrote in The Mirror.
"What the Blues hierarchy should be saying is that Sarri has his support and they will help him build the membership he wants over the next two years.
"They should then put an embargo on the young people leaving the club and make sure that their academy is the foundation of all club activities."
"If they make any sense, they will ask Eddie Newton, Loans Officer, to give them the names of the 10 most promising young people, because with Callum Hudson-Odoi, they would have almost half of a very good team.
"I would badociate them with N'Golo Kante, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta, all of whom deserve to stay, as well as Gonzalo Higuain, if he wishes.
"But beyond these five years, I can not think of anyone else that I would like to keep, which is a damning indictment for others."
