Liverpool fans divert Barcelona's tweet to send a reminder of the Champions League to the Catalan giants

Liverpool fans have diverted a tweet sent by Barcelona to remind the Catalan giants their defeat in the semifinals of the Champions League.

Barcelona came to Anfield 3-0 in May after a devastating performance by Lionel Messi in the first leg of the half, before collapsing into the Merseyside atmosphere as Liverpool triumphed 4-0 to qualify for the final in Madrid.

Divock Origi and Gini Wijnaldum both scored two goals as Liverpool advanced and Jurgen Klopp's team made the difference by winning their sixth European Cup with a 2-0 win against Tottenham on 1 June.

Barcelona tweeted "The best legend wins" with a photo of midfielder Sergio Busquets and defender Jordi Alba on a club flight – and the response was as predictable as hilarious.

The most common response from Liverpool fans was "Corner caught quickly … ORIGI !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Another reading: "We score, Liverpool needs FIVE – and we'll have at least one … agree?"

"Do not worry, he leaves it to Shaqiri," was another funny answer.

The defeat is clearly still fresh in the minds of Barcelona fans. Many tweeted their anger at the manager, Ernesto Valverde.
