Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher identifies when pressure on the title could hit Man City

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has explained what the Reds need to do to relaunch the pressure on the Manchester City title as the end of the season accelerates.

The former Carragher club can go back to Man City this afternoon if he beats Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield.

Liverpool went from the top of the standings by seven points early in the year to a point behind. But Liverpool has the mental advantage of playing first for the next few weeks before City meets Manchester United in their match on Wednesday, April 24.

The pressure is on Liverpool right now, as they face the Spurs and Chelsea over the next two weeks, but Carragher insists that if the Reds win in their next three games, the pressure could weigh on City after that.

City's last five games include the Spurs and Manchester United clash and Carragher hopes Liverpool will keep up with the current champions.

"I do not think anyone expects anything other than Man City beat Fulham on Saturday. Now it's an important match for Liverpool against the Spurs, "said Carragher at the goals ceremony Sunday.

"For Liverpool, there are three very difficult games to play at Spurs, Southampton on Friday night and Chelsea at home.

"After that, you're in the last four or five games of the season. The feeling is that while Man City is in pole position, if Liverpool can only be one point behind after these three games, he is then well placed to win the championship.

"The matches of the city in the last five games are getting more and more difficult and the pressure is getting worse with the matches of the Champions League.

"Liverpool have the toughest games right now, but if they can win them, the burden will come right back on City."

Meanwhile, Carragher insists on the result and not on how Liverpool plays against the Spurs this afternoon.

"It's all about results and it's always more important than performance," added Carragher. "Liverpool are back in shape since the victory of Bayern Munich. We have seen this comeback in some home games, like the win against Burnley. "
