Liverpool is worried that Matthijs de Ligt's signature will cause a break in the locker room, reports said.
The Reds are one of six teams vying for De Ligt. Barcelona, Paris-Saint Germain and Manchester United all offer deals for the star of Ajax.
De Ligt would prefer to go to Barcelona, but the champions of La Liga refuse to align their offer on the proposals of United and PSG.
The Mirror claims that Mino Raiola considers Anfield the "ideal" place for his player, but Liverpool risks a revolt of the players if they sign the Dutchman.
De Ligt will ask Anfield about £ 236,000 a week. Mohamed Salah, Liverpool's most lucrative player, has a £ 200,000 contract a week.
Raiola would like De Ligt to play alongside Dutch team-mate Virgil van Dijk. Klopp recently asked Liverpool to sign the central defender.
But if De Ligt joins Liverpool, the club fears that many of its biggest stars are asking to improve their own salaries.
De Ligt is expected to announce his future next week, while the ban on transfer imposed on Raiola has been suspended.
Frenkie de Jong, who signed for Barcelona earlier this year, has already urged his former teammate from Ajax to join him in Spain.
"He has to make his own decisions," De Jong said. "Of course, I would like him to come to Barcelona, but we'll see what happens. It's his.
