Liverpool would have met Callum Hudson-Odoi earlier this month with a view to a surprise deal for Chelsea's ace.
The 18-year-old was strongly linked to a January move to Bayern Munich and is now expected to refuse a new deal at Stamford Bridge estimated at £ 85,000 a week.
It has already been the subject of four Bundesliga giants' bids, the latter apparently having met the £ 35m Chelsea valuation.
While the Blues are keen to retain teenage services beyond the winter market, Hudson-Odoi itself is obviously committed to continuing the promise of more first-team opportunities in Germany.
The German outlet Sport Bild says that a representative from Liverpool recently met with the Englishman and his advisor.

It remains to be seen whether or not there is a truth behind the report, and even then, the chances of seeing Liverpool grabbing the hat for the English look incredibly slim at this point.
Jurgen Klopp is satisfied with his current options and should not make new signings before the deadline, despite several defensive injuries over the holiday season.
Plans for its summer transfer approach will likely involve the priority of an Orthodox Front Center and potentially another central playmaker.
With groups such as Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Xherdan Shaqiri at Klopp's disposal, the prospects are not encouraging for wingers aspiring to work at Anfield in the years to come.
