Liverpool nominates Pep Lijnders as official substitute for Zeljko Buvac

Pep Lijnders was officially appointed as substitute for Zeljko Buvac as deputy director of Jurgen Klopp in Liverpool.

The talented Dutch coach is technically on the job since returning to Anfield last summer after Buvac left his post dramatically as No. 2 Klopp.

Until Monday, the job title of Lijnders was left blank on the Liverpool official website, but it was updated to allow the badistant director to read.

Lijnders could not fill the paper void initially due to problems with the Buvac contract.

The Bosnian Serb has now found a compromise with the Anfield club and has shaken hands on a severance package, which means he is no longer officially employed by Liverpool.

This allowed the Reds to name his successor, Lijnders.

The Dutchman joins Peter Krawietz as another deputy director of Klopp and will continue to work alongside fitness and fitness manager Andreas Kornmayer and goalkeeper coach John Achterberg.

Liverpool feared losing some of his momentum after Buvac's resignation – which Klopp once called his brain -.
