Liverpool President, Tom Werner, expresses on the ban on the City League in the Champions League

Liverpool President Tom Werner said they were "fervent defenders" of the financial fair play rules and that the rivals under the title, Manchester City, would be subject to eventual ban on the Champions League.

"One of the reasons we were delighted to work with Liverpool was our belief that the rules of financial fair play were important," said Werner.

"I do not really know what's going on in the surveys, but all I can say is that we're strong advocates of the rules.

"We expect all clubs in the league and all European clubs to comply. If they do not comply, there should be punishments. "
