According to reports, Liverpool is a real option for Phillipe Coutinho this summer if he plans to leave Barcelona.
The 26-year-old has gone through a difficult period in Catalonia and, after admitting it last month, has pushed several clubs to be more interested in the former Reds star.
Manchester United has been mentioned as a potential destination, but the transfer does not take place for several reasons – the main one is that Coutinho would not consider relocating to Old Trafford out of respect for Liverpool.
It also seems extremely unlikely that Coutinho will return to Merseyside, despite reports that in France a surprise return to Anfield was expected.
Mundo Deportivo reported in June that sources close to the Brazilian had told them that any report saying that he would return to Liverpool are wrong.
The same newspaper, however, said Thursday that the Reds "could make an offer" to bring Coutinho back to Merseyside and that they are an option the gambler could consider.
Mundo Deportivo (via Sports witness) adds that Barcelona is open for sale this summer – with the potential arrivals of Neymar and Antoine Griezmann at Camp Nou.
The report goes on to say that if Coutinho left the Catalan giants, his priority would be a return to the Premier League.
