Ybader Larouci was out of the field after a nasty challenge. Liverpool sank 2-1 against Sevilla in its friendly match in Boston.
Jürgen Klopp then stated that it seemed that Larouci had been "lucky" not to have been hurt more seriously after being forced to leave the field in the 80th minute.
The 18-year-old left-back will have to be the subject of further evaluation.
"It looks like he's been lucky," Klopp said at his press conference after the match. "Of course, as is always the case with these things, we have to wait a bit."
Joris Gnagnon immediately received a red card for the kick to Larouci's leg, while the scores were 1-1.
Asked about Larouci's injury, Klopp added, "He hit him hard, and at that moment, [if it was] a slightly different position where he hit it then it's done. He rolls … he's a sporty boy, so it went, he did not spend anything there.
"I do not know 100%. It looks like he was lucky, but I only spoke quickly to the doc and that's what he said, but you have to see. "
Nolito gave the Spaniards the lead in the 38th minute of the game at Fenway Park, before Divock Origi canceled it two minutes before the break with a point blank.
Sevilla won the victory at the last minute as Alejandro Pozo scored an empty goal.
