Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos will not join Liverpool this summer, according to a source from Anfield.
Reports in Spain had claimed that the interest of the Reds and Manchester United had been stung, following the collapse of Ramos with Los Blancos President Florentino Perez earlier this season.
The defender is now considering his future in the Spanish capital after an extremely disappointing season. However, Liverpool will not be the one to take advantage of the situation, it seems.
"There is a 0.0% chance that Sergio Ramos will play for Liverpool," said a source at The Mirror.
The 33-year-old was involved in the shoulder injury inflicted on Mohamed Salah during the 3-1 defeat of the Champions League in Liverpool, Kiev, last year.He was also seen nudging Reds goalkeeper Loris Karius.
Ramos categorically denied any wrongdoing after the match, but his comments provoked a sort of war of words between him and several people in Liverpool. He has since become a villain of pantomime for some Reds fans. However, despite all this, the reason for the disinterest of the reds is supposed to be much more practical.
The source of the Mirror reportedly said: "Even if we had won the Champions League final and Ramos then shook hands with all Liverpool players, we would still have no interest in him."
"Ramos just does not fit the kind of profile that Jurgen Klopp wanted.
"We would not even have signed it if it was available for free."
The Spaniard is one of the most decorated players of the 21st century, having won four titles in the Champions League, four Liga titles, two Copas del Rey and four Club World Cups in his 419 appearances in Madrid.
He has also won the 2010 World Cup and two European Championships with Spain, for which he has 163 selections.
