Liverpool's performance bodes well for Jurgen Klopp after the international break

Liverpool will be back in the Premier League against Tottenham on Sunday after the international break.

And while some players enjoyed well-deserved days off during the 14-day period, others earned air miles on an international mission.

This is the kind of thing that worries fans, but in truth, Liverpool fans can rest quietly.

Because the team of Jurgen Klopp has made its way on all occasions after returning from international football this season.

The most impressive result came in September when Liverpool beat Tottenham 2-1 at Wembley to mark the start of the Premier League title race.

The Reds have triumphed thanks to the goals of Gini Wijnaldum and Roberto Firmino, and hope to repeat this feat by welcoming the men of Mauricio Pochettino Sunday.

Even Klopp admitted that the result – and the performance – was all the more impressive as he was about to mark an international break.

"Tottenham is one of the best football teams in the world, come here and play like that after the international break (…) I did not take that for granted," he said.

"We were good in defense, well in attack, and the performance was better than the result. It was maybe a bit nervous in the end but no problem.I have nothing to criticize today. 39; hui.

"If you win games and you are not 100% with the performance, you still have three points, I like that, it's a deserved result."

Liverpool had to work hard to beat Huddersfield 1-0 in October, after another international period.

Mohamed Salah scored his 50th goal in English football. Klopp admitted that Liverpool's performance was "average" at John Smith Stadium.

Nevertheless, the boss of the Reds was delighted with the result.

And after the last international cut in November, Liverpool recorded another impressive win, beating Watford 3-0 on Vicarage Road.

Trent Alexander-Arnold scored a great free kick between the Salah and Firmino strikes, while Liverpool survived Jordan Henderson's send-off to victory.

This bodes well for the Reds who will play Sunday against Tottenham, but if Liverpool fans hope that Man City slips to Fulham, they may have something else to do.

City also boasts of a perfect record after the internationals this season, beating Fulham, Burnley and most impressive, winning the Manchester derby 3-1 in November.
