Health Minister Kwaku Agyemang Manu appeared before the Public Accounts Committee to answer questions regarding the government’s purchase of certain Sputnik V vaccines through intermediaries.
On Wednesday March 3, 2021, the government signed a contract to purchase 3.4 million doses of vaccine after receiving 15,000 initial doses from Sheikh Al Maktoum.
However, the government’s contract with the intermediary Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook Al Maktoum to supply the country with Sputnik V vaccines was terminated on July 15, 2021.
The minister revealed that the reason for Sheikh Maktoum’s decision was that he “is fighting to increase vaccines”.
