The presentation of the constitutional instrument for the creation of the Northeast region is underway at the Jubilee House in Accra.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is expected to present the constitutional instruments to legally support the creation of six new regions of the country, starting with the North East Region Creation Instrument.
This follows the referendum of 27 December 2018, during which the inhabitants of the recruitment zones of the proposed new regions voted in favor of mbadive support for the creation of these regions.
The IC should name the selected capitals of the regions.
The new areas are Western North, Ahafo, Bono East, Oti, North East and Savannah.
According to a government statement, the constitutional instruments of the Northeast and Savannah regions will be presented for the first time on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, before Bono East and Ahafo on Wednesday, February 13, 2019.
