In the fight against the corona pandemic, German prime ministers along with Chancellor Angela Merkel have decided to tighten the lockdown by the end of January.
Start of tightening of corona protocols The new regulations apply in Hamburg from Friday, in Berlin, Lower Saxony and Thuringia, they should apply from Sunday. In Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Bremen, Brandenburg, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saar, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Schleswig-Holstein are expected to come into force on Monday. Notwithstanding this rule, children from Saxony, Bremen and Baden-Württemberg should be excluded from the maximum number of people, in Berlin children of single parents and children from North Rhine-Westphalia. In Rhineland-Palatinate, the regulation does not apply to preschool children.
Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg want to allow care communities with another family. Schleswig-Holstein makes an exception for the care of children and parents in need of care, Lower Saxony for disabled people and children of separated parents.
Schools and daycares: Schools and daycares remain closed. For childcare, however, parents are granted paid leave during the period mentioned. In schools, emergency care and offers for distance learning apples.
There are gaps in Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse. The schools here remain open, there is no compulsory attendance for grades 1 to 6. Pupils in Hamburg who cannot study at home are also allowed to attend school. Baden-Württemberg wants to reopen primary schools and nurseries from January 18, as well as allow face-to-face lessons for final classes. In Berlin, face-to-face and work-study courses must start gradually from Monday.
Bremen suspends compulsory education and allows parents to decide whether or not to send their children to school. In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, nurseries and schools up to the 6th grade should remain open if parents cannot take care of their children at home. Graduates should be able to return to school from Monday.
Hot spots. In federal states with more than 200 new infections per 100,000 population in a week, people should not travel more than 15 kilometers from their place of residence without a valid reason.
There are also discrepancies in federal states Baden-Württemberg, as they currently do not provide for a corresponding rule. In North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony, the municipalities should decide. Thuringia wants to give a corresponding recommendation.
