OKLAHOMA CITY – An Oklahoma City hotel that presents itself as Southwestern's largest gay resort has new owners located outside of the state.
According to the Record Journal, Alternatives Resorts, based in Los Angeles, bought the Habana Inn with 170 rooms. The Oklahoma County property records indicate that the property was sold for $ 2.4 million.
Arnold Greenspan, spokesperson for Alternatives Resorts, announced that the property will be renamed Habana Hotel and that a first phase of renovation works will begin in the fall.
The resort has two discotheques, a novelty store and a closed restaurant.
The hotel recently celebrated its 50th birthday. It is a centerpiece of a series of LGBTQ client businesses along a section of road that forms part of Historic Route 66 connecting travelers from Chicago to Los Angeles.
