Los Angeles Combines With On-Demand Shuttle Service Via as part of a pilot program that will allow people to get to three busy public transit stations.
The pilot program, launched on Monday, aims to solve the problem of the first and last kilometer that makes it difficult for citizens to access transit stations. As part of the pilot program, Via will offer on-demand trips to and from Compton, El Monte and North Hollywood stations. Via takes several pbadengers in the direction of the same direction and delivers them in a shared vehicle.

The one-year pilot project between Via and Metro is valued at $ 2.5 million and is funded in part by a $ 1.35 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration.
Vehicles carry between 3 and 6 pbadengers. The races are free for people registered in Metro's low-income subsidy programs. For TAP card holders, trips cost $ 1.75 each way. The rides for all the others are $ 3.75.
Via operates consumer shuttles in Chicago, Washington, DC and New York. The company also works with cities and transport authorities, giving customers access to their platform to deploy their own shuttles. For example, the Austin Capital Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority uses the Via platform to power the city's collection service.
