Luis Suarez believes that the injury suffered by Philippe Coutinho in November made his life difficult in Barcelona.
The Brazilian struggled for form in the first half of this season, and was sensationalistically badociated with abandoning Camp Nou. There were reports that the former Liverpool man had been lined up by Manchester United from all the clubs.
Coutinho started and scored two goals in his last outing to Barcelona, suggesting that his poor form for Blaugrana is over.
The 26-year-old was absent for a long time in November, about the same time he was dislodged from the eleventh start by Ousmane Dembele.
But Suarez thinks that Coutinho's form was not attributable to the Frenchman or to a change of position.
"I do not think it's because of his position because he's used to playing there," Suarez told SPORT. "With Brazil, he plays there and when I was with him in Liverpool as well, after that, he changed his position a bit but he knows how to play and can make a difference in the matches."
"Yes, he goes through the patches, but we all too, there are times when, and I know because it happened to me, that two or three moves do not work." Ah, nothing disturbs me. I must do better. "And it's sometimes the worst.
"But I believe that Philippe has been playing in Europe for many years and that he has demonstrated the quality of football that he is in. I think you have been unfair to him, especially after that." he gave the club in his first six months here.
"He came from the World Cup, where he was a starter, but he was hurt later and that made it difficult, Ousmane played well and he accepted it without any problem. He is at the right time at the system and doing what the coach asks him. "
