KARACHI: Unilever Pakistan on Saturday discussed the controversy surrounding the 2019 Lux Style Awards.
"The Lux Style Awards are decided by an independent jury of critics and industry peers," the company said in a press release.
The press release added that the jury members for 2019 had been chosen by an independent board of governors. "Neither the Lux Style Awards nor Unilever Pakistan have ever prevented the independence of the jury and we continue to respect their decisions."
Unilever Pakistan added that his company was aware of the case of Ali Zafar and Meesha Shafi, adding that the case was still pending and that it would not be appropriate to comment on it.
As a protest against badual harbadment, seven nominees at the Lux Style Awards rejected their candidacy. These nominees include models Rubab Ali and Eman Suleman, makeup artists Saima Bagfrede and Fatima Nasir, singer Meesha Shafi, rock band The Sketches and clothing brand Generation.
