Bono's regional president, Kwame Baffoe, in power, the new Patriotic Party (NPP), in power, calls himself DC's Abronye and is very angry at former President John Mahama for promising to abolish the tax on luxury vehicles if it won power in 2020.

Addressing the leaders and drivers of the GPRTU station at Neoplan Station in Accra on Thursday, April 18, 2018 as part of his "Pre-Easter Walk", Mr. Mahama argued that the new tax in and of itself did not generate as much revenue and the government would not do it.

He therefore described the tax as ill-conceived, which overloaded the ordinary driver.

"My government will remove the tax on luxury vehicles from 2021, if the Akufo-Addo government refuses to suspend or remove it," said former president Mahama.

Mr. Mahama pointed out that the new tax is a liability that does not generate as much revenue, wondering why the government would not do it.

At the same time, Eric Kweku Boateng, president of the Vehicle and Assets Dealers Association, told Starr FM that the tax on luxury was collapsing and that, as a result, members of his group welcomed M's promise. Mahama in this regard.

"If you are hungry and someone says: my brother, I can feed you. So what are you doing? You have just accepted, "he said.

The administration headed by Akufo-Addo introduced the tax on luxury vehicles for the purpose of taxing motor vehicles of greater capacity.

Last month, the group organized a protest against the luxury vehicle tax in Accra to protest against the levy.

But in a statement signed by Abronye DC and forwarded to the media, he states that John Mahama's claim that the tax itself does not generate a lot of revenue for the government calling for its abolition, is completely false.

"… This statement by John Mahama is completely false, a man of his caliber should give up such lies, because he has every chance to cross-check his facts before spreading them." But he decides to resort to lies and lies, some we are also ready to face him, "he added.

Abronye said the law on luxury vehicles strictly exempts tractors, ambulances and commercial vehicles that can carry more than ten people, among others.

Abrony DC wondered why a former president who should know more will say that the tax affects all vehicles, including commercial vehicles, agricultural tractors, collection vehicles, among other vehicles.

"It is important to know that, in accordance with the Legislative Instrument (Law on Luxury Vehicles 1998 Act 989) regulating this tax, the following categories of vehicles are strictly exempt from tax, tractors, ambulances and commercial vehicles capacity of more than ten people, commercial vehicles for the transport of goods … ", he explained.

He therefore urged the former president to stop rowing lies and preserve his reputation.

"Now, it is clear that John Mahama lied, and I would like to urge John Mahama to stop lying because he is slowly losing his 1% reputation," he said.

He added that "as a former president who is always paid with the taxpayer's sweat and panic, we expect him that he meets the standards and expectations and does not resort to the lie, propaganda and cheap politics ".

He pointed out that former President John Mahama had no moral right to speak of tax, adding that former President John Mahama had introduced many nuisance taxes to kill Ghanaians.

"John Mahama is therefore aware that taxes are a burden on Ghanaians and he has deliberately implemented all these harmful taxes, which shows why Mahama is the best hypocrite in Ghana," he said.

He concluded by saying that "John Mahama should sit, drink and come back".

Below the complete statement

Kwame Baffoe Abronye writes

RE: I WILL ABOLISH THE TAX ON COMMERCIAL VEHICLES IN LUXURY AUTOMOBILES – DIT JOHN MAHAMA

I am beginning to have the belief that former President John Dramani Mahama has no respect for Ghanaians and drivers, or that he deliberately decided to adopt a political strategy based on the lie, propaganda and deformed facts.

It is undeniable that the NDC and its flag bearer, Mr. TIO (the Incompetent), are good in the politics of the opposition parties because they are well prepared and master the game when it it is about deceiving politics and misleading the electorate.

Yesterday, Mr. Mahama S addressing leaders and drivers of the GPRTU station of Neoplan Station in Accra as part of his trip throughout the country, he told Ghanaians that he wished to return to the country and feed his friends and family. The new tax itself does not generate a lot of revenue and wonders why the government does not eliminate it. He announced that he would abolish the luxury vehicle tax introduced by the government to tax motor vehicles of greater capacity.

He added that the tax affected all vehicles, including commercial vehicles, agricultural tractors, commercial vehicles, among others, and caused many problems, difficulties and difficulties for drivers.

This statement by John Mahama is completely false. A man of his caliber should give up such lies, because he is likely to verify his facts before distributing them. But if he decides to resort to lying and lying, some of us are also ready to face him.

It is important to know that, in accordance with the legislative instrument (Law on Luxury Vehicles, 2018, Law 989) which governs this tax, the following categories of vehicles are strictly exempt from tax:

a) tractors;

(b) ambulances;

(c) commercial vehicles capable of carrying more than ten persons;

(d) commercial vehicles for the transport of goods;

e) other exemptions prescribed by the Minister of Finance.

An attachment to this exhibit is the notice issued by the Ministry of Finance that initiated the policy / tax.

According to the attached letter / notification, it is clear that the vehicles that John Mahama stated that they are obliged to pay the tax are all exempted and excluded from the levy.

It is important to note that the attached notice is included in the tax on luxury vehicles.
2018 (Law 989)

Now, it is clear that John Mahama lied.
I would like to urge John Mahama to stop lying because he is slowly losing his reputation.

As a former president who is always paid with the sweat and haste of the taxpayer, we expect him that he respects the standards and expectations and does not resort to lies, propaganda and politics cheap.

Finally, you will find below a list of taxes that have been imposed by the NDC government, but these have been removed and examined by the government to listen to President Nana Addo:

– 5% VAT / NHIL on sales of real estate

– Excise duty on oil

– Special tax rate on oil from 17.5% to 15%

– Right on the import of spare parts

– Kayayei levies by local authorities

– Taxation, gains from the realization of securities listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange or securities held by the public, approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)

– special import tax of 1 percent

– 17.5% VAT / NHIL on financial services

– 17.5% VAT / NHIL on certain imported medicines, which are not produced locally

– Take measures to abolish import duties on raw materials and machinery for production under the ECOWAS Protocol on the Common External Tariff (CET)

– 17.5% VAT / NHIL on domestic air tickets

John Mahama is therefore aware that taxes are a burden on Ghanaians and he has deliberately applied all these harmful taxes. This shows why Mahama is the best hypocrite in Ghana.

John Mahama should sit, drink and come back.

Thank you.
