Mahama and Zanetor visit flood victims in Adabraka

Former President Mahama, accompanied by Dr. Zanetor Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, and some National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Officials visited Adabraka Sahara residents affected by last Wednesday's floods in Accra .

The heavy rain on Wednesday afternoon caused Odaw to overflow on its banks; moving many of those who live in Odawna and Adabraka Sahara.

Most of the time, heavy rains in the capital cause flooding in Accra, with many people attributing this permanent fact to the location of structures on waterways, lack of drainage systems and muffled drains.

Some of the affected areas include the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange, the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, Spintex, the Pillar 2 Dome Road, Ablekuma, parts of Teshie, the Obetsebi Lamptey Roundabout and parts of Dzorwulu.

In April, parts of the capital were submerged by the waters after heavy rain.

The affected areas, including the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, Kaneshie and Avenor, among others, were inundated.

At the Kwame Nkrumah interchange, running water ran out of muffled drains on the roads and left pedestrians with no choice but to wade through the water that had risen to the knees.

Lives were also lost during the floods.
