Former President John Dramani Mahama condemned the attack on the nationality of Auditor General Daniel Domelevo, who was invited to retire by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
His comment comes after the Council alleged that the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) records provided by Mr Domelevo indicated that his date of birth was 1960 when he joined the scheme on October 1. 1978.
The Council reiterated that the file also showed that the birthplace of Mr. Domelevo is Agbetofe in Togo; making it non-Ghanaian but on October 25, 1993 some changes were made.
As the date of birth changed to June 1, 1961, the Auditor General’s hometown was now Ada in the Greater Accra region, the board said in a three-page letter to Mr. Domelevo on Tuesday. March 2, just one day. before returning to work after taking compulsory leave, on Wednesday March 3.
The board further noted that he was due to retire on June 1, 2020.
“The date of birth on your Ghanaian passport number A45800, issued on February 28, 1996, is June 1, 1961. This place of birth is indicated as Kumasi, Ashanti region,” the correspondence read.
The Council said that Mr Domelevo’s referral to a parish priest and the provision of his contact for further verification of his date of birth is not eligible.
“Observing your answers and explanations in your reference letter above makes your date of birth and your Ghanaian nationality even more questionable and makes it clear that you have made false statements against the law.”
The Council therefore insisted that Mr. Domelevo was to take his mandatory retirement on June 1, 2020 and was in fact not a Ghanaian but a Togolese.
“The files made available to the Board indicate that your retirement date was June 1, 2020 and that with regard to the audit service, you are deemed to have retired,” he said. note.
