Mahama has only completed 29 E-Block Schools – Minister of Education

The Mahama administration has only completed 29 of its block E community day schools before leaving office, said Education Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh.

This statement is contrary to the figures provided by the previous administration which put the figure above 50 out of 200 projects.

Dr. Prempeh made this revelation Wednesday in Parliament as he was answering questions from MP Garu Albert Akuka Alalzuuga, who was seeking to inform the Minister of the measures in place to ensure the completion of community health days.

The minister further revealed that 21 other such projects had been completed since the entry into office of Akufo Addo's administration.

He badured that the ministry was working day and night to finish a few schools and cancel some contracts to be rebadigned according to the needs.

The NDC government had repeatedly announced that more than 123 schools were in various stages of completion and had published a list of these schools in October 2016, after asking for evidence of progress.

Former President Mahama, participating in the NDC Manifesto of Elections for 2012, had promised to build 200 day schools between 2013 and 2016, with the aim of building at least 50 each year during the four years.

But just months away from the 2016 election, the NDC admitted that it would not be able to achieve this feat. Mr Mahama however inaugurated a few of them with the announcement that 75 of them were ready to be used.
