The New Patriotic Party (NPP) said the decision of former President John Mahama to peddle lies to the diplomatic community regarding the incident of the Ayawaso by-election spate. West Wuogon.
According to the NPP, instead of contacting the police service about the incident, he instead decided to appeal to the international community.
NPP's communications director, Yaw Boabeng Asamoah, told reporters Tuesday, February 19, 2019 that "the former president lied to the diplomatic community and must be sentenced".
He warned Mahama and his National Democratic Congress to renounce violent propaganda.
According to him, if the NDC persists with violent propaganda, he will be left behind.
He said the NPP was different from the NDC in terms of violence, noting that the ruling party was concerned with improving the lives of Ghanaians rather than doing violence to innocent citizens.
He said Ghana deserved a responsible opposition, which will be part of Judge Emile Short's Commission to find a lasting solution to political violence.
On the contrary, the former president is trying to make matters worse.
