Mr. Bossman Asare, Deputy Commissioner of the Electoral Commission (EC), urged former President John Dramani Mahama to remain calm in the face of the 2020 general election by declaring that the Electoral Commission was not able to "rigging" elections in favor of a particular candidate.
The badurance of Bossman Asare follows the constant affirmation of members of the National Democratic Congress of the opposition, or even the former president of the country, who could have faked the results of the poll of 2020.
John Mahama, in a recent interview on Citi FM, based in Accra, said the Ghanaian electorate has given reason to the opposition's biggest party to worry, in the light of some recent actions. .
He says these actions give the CND the impression that the commission led by Jean Mensa could be in bed with the ruling New Patriotic Party and work toward a NPP victory in the next general election.
However, during the working visit of the three EC Commissioners to Peace FM, based in Accra, Mr Bossman Asare took the opportunity to respond to Mr Mahama's concerns about his credibility for the Electoral Commission.
"I would like to inform former President Mahama that he must remain calm because myself, Mrs. Jean Mensah and my elder Mr. Tetteh, consider the work entrusted to us as a plan of God. we are doing here is to ensure the improvement of Ghana's democracy. We have never met all three to discuss a question about favoring one of the parties at the expense of the other, "he said.
"What is more important for us is to ensure the smooth running of the elections, but whoever becomes president will be solely determined by the Ghanaians. Our responsibility, which is paramount for us, is to ensure that appropriate measures are in place to ensure that procedures are harmonious, free and fair. Thus, when you win, you will know that you have actually won and when you lose, you take it as it should. So I beg Mr. Mahama to stay calm, everything is under control, "said Dr. Bossman Asare.
