Former President John Dramani Mahama visited some of the victims of last Wednesday's rain in Adabraka and surrounding areas on Sunday, June 2, 2019.
Mr. Mahama went to visit with the Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey, Mr. Zanetor Rawlings, the NDC National President, Mr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and some other NDC officials.
After last Wednesday's rain, several parts of the capital were submerged, leaving many residents around Odawna and Adabraka displaced.
The affected areas were the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange, Kaneshie and Avenor, Adabraka, parts of West Legon, Dzorwulu, among others.
In his discussions with the victims, the former president stressed the need to take swift action before the situation degenerates.
"The situation can escalate if we do not accelerate drainage efforts."
He also called on the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) to speed up relief operations for people in the affected areas.
"We urge the authorities not to give up because they continue to unlock the drainage so that water flows when the rains arrive … One of the main consequences of the floods is the possibility of an outbreak." cholera and we do not want to see cholera there. "
Mr. Mahama visited residents living around Odawna, Adabraka Sahara and West Legon.
