Former President John Dramani Mahama, in January 2017, withdrew his request to keep his official residence as a retirement home.
Mr Mahama had previously refused to vacate the state bungalow despite his tenure expiring, claiming he was given a sign of owning the property.
A statement by the ex-president to the new government said he felt it was important to step out of the building to avoid undermining the spirit of cooperation between the two sides of the transition teams.
He did not give further explanation on his latest decision.

Former President John Dramani Mahama canceled a request to maintain an official bungalow as part of his end-of-service performance as former President of the Republic.
The former president had previously refused to vacate the state bungalow despite his term expiring, saying he was signed to own the property.
But a rebuttal by President Akufo-Addo’s prime minister-designate, Yaw Osafo Maafo, suggested otherwise.
According to Mr. Osafo Marfo, although the former president applied to obtain the property as part of his benefits as ex-president, no decision has been taken to this effect.
There was a huge public outcry when it became public that the former president had refused to leave the bungalow intended for the country’s vice presidents. The situation would have left the incumbent Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in failure.
But former President Mahama, in a letter dated January 10, 2017 and signed by himself, says the request for continued stay at the facility is withdrawn.
