John Boadu, NPP General Secretary made the allegation at a press conference
The secretary general of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) alleges that under former President John Dramani Mahama all the “questionable” deals under his administration were made by his friend, Roland Agambire, who was the executive chairman of Agams Holdings.
Speaking to a press conference on Thursday, August 26, he noted that the latest judgment on international arbitration between the Bank of Ghana and Sibton Switch Limited is an example in which Mr. Agambire was at the center of the award of contracts without the prior approval of the Public Procurement Authority (APP).
He further alleged that the deal benefited Mr Agambire, who used some of the money “for houses in Dubai and to pay media houses for NDC ads for 2012”.
“The fallout from the briefing was that the contract was awarded at a cost of GH ¢ 4.6 billion under John Mahama,” the NPP general secretary told reporters in Accra.
“What’s even more remarkable about what happened is that again a lot of people were quoting billions of dollars and it became a topic of public debate, but this system has now been built for. less than $ 4 million under the NPP government.
“Isn’t it more worrying that all of the questionable deals under Mahama were made by the RLG man?” He asked, revealing: “Mahama advised Agambire to go into hiding after the elections.”
He was responding to Mr. Mahama’s claims that corruption has worsened under the current administration, with the president showing no commitment to fighting it.
But Mr Boadu said: “In any event, as the former president, Mahama does not have to wait to deal with corruption. He is familiar with the institutions within government responsible for investigations and prosecutions.
“He can report his alleged evidence of corruption allegations about the nuclear power plant to any law enforcement agency Ghana can boast of, including the special prosecutor that he, Mahama, has advised. ‘to be independent.
