Sedina Christine Tamakloe Attionu, former General Manager of the Microfinance and Small Loans Center (MASLOC) under the former Mahama government, was left sweaty by a 5 million GH ¢ bail that was imposed yesterday.

Ms. Attionu, who faces 78 counts of indictment, including theft, resulting in financial losses to the state, made her first appearance before a high court (economic and economic court) of Accra , after being formally charged last week by the prosecution. .

Charges

Together, the two accused are facing 78 counts of indictment including conspiracy to steal, steal, unauthorized engagement, resulting in a financial obligation to the government, irregular payments, money laundering and violation of the Law on Public Procurement.

The two accused allegedly stole a total of 3 198 280 GH ¢ from MASLOC and intentionally caused a financial loss to the State of 1 973 780 GH ¢.

Case facts

According to the facts read by the Attorney General, Gloria Afua Akuffo, Ms. Attionu embezzled GH ¢ 500,000 from the MASLOC sum invested in Obaatanpa Micro-Finance Company Limited, which was subsequently withdrawn due to 39, an interest of 24%.

She added that the former boss of MASLOC had rejected a check issued by Obaatanpa and recovering the money. Instead, he had asked that the money be repaid in cash.

According to the Auditor General, the investigations revealed that of the GH1,816,000 reserved for a national awareness and follow-up program for 85,300 MASLOC loan recipients, only 1,300 GH ¢ were spent on refreshments for some beneficiaries of Volta, Greater Accra and South-East. Regions of Brong-Ahafo and no program has taken place in the other seven regions.

The former boss of MASLCO was also accused of having embezzled 579,800 GH ¢ of a 1,465,035 GH ¢ grant granted by the government to the victims of the disaster caused by the fire of the Kantamanto market in 2013.

According to the state, Ms. Attionu, without resorting to the law on public procurement, signed a contract with Mac Autos on December 6, 2016 to provide MASLOC with 350 vehicles including 150 Chevy Aveo Saloon, 100 Chevy Sparklite and 33 Isuzu Seater Buses.

Ms. Gloria Akufo told the court that although MASLCO had requested a vehicle tax exemption, Ms. Attionu had inflated the unit prices of the vehicles.

Case Management
