REGIONAL SECRETARIAT OF THE NORTH WEST – NDC
COMMUNICATIONS MANAGEMENT
PRESS RELEASE
July 18, 2019.
The population of John Mahama in the Northwest

The North West region is one of the safest regions for the NDC even before becoming a region. The good people in the region have always supported the party since 1992 and the party recognizes that.

Unfortunately, this was not the case in 2016. Of the eight safest seats occupied by the party since 2004, this was not the case in 2016, when the NDC lost two seats out of eight. Even though John Mahama won the presidential elections in these constituencies, his votes were reduced. Ideally, in about two and a half years the popularity of the former president should not be expected to become even greater than it is now in the region.

Interestingly, the situation has changed dramatically: the former president was even more popular than expected in the region. The visit of the President and former President of the Republic of Ghana to the region, which has just ended, has really shown how popular he has become. Its popularity is based on two situations or accounts.

The first is his large-scale infrastructure projects in which he embarked. Several roads in the area have been completed and some are underway. The life of our cocoa farmers has also improved during President Mahama's tenure. During this period, fertilizers were free, the price of cocoa was increased and roads were also developed. This situation, as it stands, is deceiving the former president of the region.

The second situation or point is the fact that the administration headed by Nana Addo has nothing to show during these two and a half years of his administration. The plight of the people of the North West has worsened, with most lives being threatened and impoverished. Their price of cocoa has not increased and, at the same time, fertilizers have been sold to them. All roads in the area have also been stopped and taxi drivers are suffering. Larger amounts are devoted to maintenance, the price of fuel being also higher.

These two situations, as stated, can only enhance the popularity of H. E. John Mahama. It is not surprising that the brave people of the North West, knowing that these facts can not stay at home, have come forward to support the leader of the NDC. Even though he did not come to campaign, the support was huge.

The NPP of the region, after noting that it was losing its power and popularity, decided to spread the political lie. It is instructive to note that the NPP can not be compared to the NDC in terms of development projects in the region. We are much better than the NPP.

However, we are not disturbed by their noise, but remain focused on working harder to ensure food for 2020 by grace.

We are also grateful to the leaders and residents of the Northwest for their hospitality. The media, we say ayekoo. We are really grateful for your cover.

Long live the NDC!
