WARNING: This story contains spoilers for Game of thrones Season 8, episode 3
Maisie Williams remained relatively silent after the last episode of Game of thrones, called "The Long Night", which may surprise considering the essential role played by his character in the victory at the Battle of Winterfell. In a movement that no one saw coming, Arya Stark was the one who ended up killing the king of the night, sneaking it into the woods of the gods and stabbing him with a Valyrian steel dagger for a devastating final blow.
The turn of the plot shocked but satisfied the fans on the internet, but maybe no one was happier than the big scene than Williams herself. Breaking his silence at the big time this afternoon, the actress posted a festive Instagram reacting to the big episode of last night with a behind-the-scenes video of co-starring Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark) performing Soulja dance Boy.
The clip shows Turner on what looks like Winterfell's ramparts, describing the lyrics of the 2007 hip-hop hit while dancing and hitting a snowball from the balcony. (You can not invent that, guys.)
Williams aptly subtitled the post, "how [sic] feel after this episode. not today bby "." She also cited the now iconic appeal and response she had learned from her saber fighter instructor, Syrio Forel, in Season 1: "What are we saying to the god of death?" "Not today." This subtle post-battle flex after Instagram's Arya on Night King.
Speaking of the icy antagonist, Williams also shared a behind-the-scenes photo of stuntman and actor Vladimir Furdik, who plays the role of Night King in the series, on the second slide of his Insta post with Turner. He points to the camera and poses on the shot while he is wearing all of his outfit, showing a laid-back side of White Walker's leader that we've never seen before (and we'll probably never see).
Williams was originally worried that Eu viewers would not approve of the fact that Arya was the one who killed the king of the night because it was such a surprise. She and her co-star Kit Harington, like many of us, thought it would be Jon Snow who would knock the king out of the night. "It was incredibly exciting," she said Weekly entertainment. "But I immediately thought that everyone would hate him, Arya does not deserve it."
Finally, she came. "It was beautiful, it was poetry, and I'm grateful that it's me and not Kit," she joked in the series "Game Revealed." We are grateful too, Maisie.
Game of thrones returns next Sunday on HBO at 9 o'clock. AND.
