CHENNAI: Maisnam Meiraba of Manipur and Samiya Imad Farooqui of Telangana won the men's and women's under-19 singles titles respectively in the Microplex Global and Yonex-Sunrise All-India Junior badminton tournaments.

The second seed, Meiraba, had some easy things when his Delhi rival, Aakash Yadav, went out halfway through the second game due to an injury.

Manipur's boy led 21-9, 12-7 when Yadav decided to leave him.

In the women's final, Samiya, Asian Under-15 champion, hailed as the new prodigy of the Gopichand Academy, easily beat the No. 16 seed of Delhi, Aashi Rawat, 21-17, 21-12 in final.

Samiya took a 16-12 lead before Aashi retaliated to reduce the lead to 15-17, but could not sustain the fight and dropped 17-21.

The second match was a one-sided affair after a defiant start against defeat in Delhi.

Results – All finals: Single boys under 19: Maisnam Meiraba (Manipur-X2) from Aakash Yadav (X5) 21-9 12-7 (retired).

Single girls under 19: Samiya Imad Farooqui (TS X-5) and Aashi Rawat (X16) 21-17, 21-12.

Double Boys: Ishaan Bhatnagar (CHG) and Vishnuvardhan Goud P (TS X2) of Manjit Singh Khwairakpam and Dingku Sing Konthoujam (Manipur X1) 21-18, 21-13.

Double Girls Juniors: Aditi Bhatt (UTR) and Tanisha Crasto (Goa X2) near Simran Singhi and Ritika Thakar (Mah X6) 21-14, 21-16.

Mixed Doubles: Dingku Singh Konthoujam (Manipur) and Ritika Thacker (Mah X5) against Ishaan Bhatnagar (CHG) and Tanisha Crasto (Goa) 21-18, 21-12.
