Majority leader calls on MPs to prepare for a demanding session

Accra, May 28, GNA – Parliament Tuesday
resumed after the Easter holidays, where Mr. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the president
Leader of the Majority and Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, invited members to
prepare for a demanding session.

He explained that the work of the Chamber was

would be considered.

The biannual review of the budget statement
and the government's economic policy for fiscal year 2019 are among the

Aware that political parties would be
organize primaries to select candidates for the December 2020 legislature

parties to ensure balanced representation in Parliament.

The House should consider and adopt
the Vigilance and Related Offenses Bill, 2019, among 50 other bills
should be presented.

They include the Ghana University of Technology
College Bill, 2019, Public Private Partnerships Bill, 2019, Consumer Protection
Bill, 2019, National Research Fund Act, 2019, Positive Action Bill, 2019
and the National Highway Safety Bill and the Creative Arts Bill, 2019.

Twenty-two bills are currently before some
committees. These include vigilance and related offenses 2019, Constitution
(Amendment) Bill, 2019, Legal Profession Act (Amendment), 2018, Interstate
Succession Act, 2018, Ghana Cocoa (Amendment) Act, 2017, and Ghanaian Law
Draft law on the book development agency, 2018.

Forty-five communications should be
presented at this meeting.

The house will also work on instruments,
Motions, referrals and directions from the chair.

The President, Professor Mike Oquaye, in a welcome address
