Majority leader presents 9 reasons for new room

The Minister of Parliamentary Affairs has given nine reasons why Ghana needs to set up a very comfortable and versatile room with a capacity of 450 places for the work of parliamentarians.

In various interviews intended to appease the public anger that had hosted the announcement, Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu gave the following reasons to justify the investment of $ 200 million.

1. The distance between majority MPs and minority MPs is too short and a minister can easily strike a blow or slap another minister when the situation warms up.

2. Because of the way the place is not protected … someone can easily get into the room and pour acid on the speaker.

3. Last time, because of easy access, a man entered the room in search of his MP and he could not find it. He tried to commit suicide.

4. Today, there are so many members sitting next to the column who can not be identified by the speaker. They can not catch the eyes of the interlocutors. Even when they get up, they can not identify them.

5. It is also time for Parliament to set up its own chamber after adapting the seat of the state to its work since 1992.

6. There is no parliament, anywhere in the world, where the public has direct access to members of the chamber.

7. Parliament as an institution since independence has not had a specific facility and it is the only branch of government that has not had its own own building.

8. The current chamber hampers the ability of the state to ensure the safety of the deputies.

9. The walkways are congested and the worst could happen in case of breakup.
