DCOP Francis Duku
Residents of Alavanyo Dzogbedze, in the Volta region, are demanding disclosure of the findings of a committee set up to investigate the incident of the 13 January 2019 shootout between a joint police and police task force. military and natives resulting in the deaths of two people.
The police blamed the incident on a youth attempting to snatch an AK 47 rifle and handcuffs, but the youth refuted this claim and said the clashes occurred after an agreement was reached on the culture. Indian hemp with DCOP Regional Commander Francis Duku.
The government has set up a committee to investigate and get to the bottom of it and the committee has since submitted its report.
However, four weeks after the committee's work, residents are wondering why nothing was heard from the committee's report.
In a statement, residents issued an ultimatum of 27 February 2019 urging the authorities to release the report or "we will advise on the next line of action".
Below the complete statement:
PRESS RELEASE
REQUEST FOR PUBLICATION OF THE REPORT OF INVESTIGATION – ALAVANYO DRAWING INCIDENT
Ladies and gentlemen, we welcome you to this press conference organized by the people of Alavanyo.
We recall the unfortunate, painful and barbaric killings perpetrated by the police and the military at Alavanyo Dzogbedze on January 13, 2019. In fact, it is also important to note that this unfortunate incident is barely more than a month old.
Since then, our Hon. Dr. Archibald Letsa, Minister of the Volta Region, publicly announced the creation of an investigative committee to shed light on the events that led to the shooting that resulted in death and death citizens, and to present its conclusions and recommendations. . We congratulate him for this bold step.
Our regional minister badured, not only the inhabitants of Alavanyo, but the whole country, that the conclusions and recommendations of the committee would be made public and that he had given a week to the committee for the presentation of the report.
We want to state that we trusted the sincerity of the hon. Regional Minister when he made these statements.
We are reliably informed, and with greater authority, of press releases from the regional minister indicating that the committee has submitted its report in a timely manner. It has been four (4) weeks now and silence is total on the report, which creates disturbing calm in the community.
The people of Alavanyo wish to declare unreservedly that we have shown patience, maturity and restraint all this and that we must congratulate ourselves on this remarkable achievement. This is because we have never doubted its integrity. Neither did we want to embarrbad him with negative reactions while the committee was conducting its work.
It must be said unequivocally that we have cooperated with the committee throughout its work and that we have given them the peace of mind necessary for such tasks. However, up to this point one can ask; • What holds the hon. Regional Minister to make the report public? • Are some of the big "cats" nailed? • Are the conclusions horrifying against security, which we have no doubt about? • The Hon. Is the regional minister afraid to walk on the feet of some "big fish" of the state? • Are there influences from the "usual top"?
The inhabitants of Alavanyo want to state categorically that it is enough. The intimidation of the population of Alavanyo is taking unprecedented action and we can no longer remain inactive. When we, like other Ghanaians, are "stung, we are bleeding".
We are all witnesses of the daily events of this country and we know how civil society, church leaders, intelligentsia, political parties, parliamentarians, etc. react.
Who is Alavanyo here? Should we take our destiny in hand?
All we say to our hon. Regional Minister is that, please, publish the report now. The trailing feet can no longer be tolerated and our patience is at its lowest level.
Do not forget that it is just that justice be done for the victims and their dependents. How can authors roam freely while their victims continue to languish with helplessness, hopelessness and agony?
We believe that we can still be patient until February 27, 2019. Nevertheless, be aware that if the report remains in your office on this date, we will inform ourselves about the next line of action.
THE ALLEGATIONS OF FRANCIS DOKU ON ARMS ALAVANYO
The citizens of Alavanyo and the general public are particularly concerned and interested in the veracity of Francis Doku's so-called confidential report on firearms factories and weapons storage at Alavanyo Dzogbedze.
Moreover, DCOP Francis Doku's statement to the media is all the more worrying because some of his remarks were irrelevant, particularly with regard to the manufacture and stockpiling of weapons, and should be considered as confidential matters and not should not be made public by the president. press.
According to previous DCOP statements Francis Doku, all well-meaning minds can conclude that the true statements that are the subject of discussion and the public domain are indisputable and can be attributed to DCOP Doku as facts and not made by no media.
What dissatisfaction did DCOP Doku express about the press houses that exposed its calculated attempts to portray Alavanyo's population in black in the eyes of the public?
For us, the transfer of DCOP Doku can be a calculated strategy to bury the question, but this will never be solved.
One may wonder why the IGP is not considering a blackout option until this serious accusation has been proven by DCOP Doku.
DCOP Doku has the burden of proof in this wild accusation. We therefore challenge him to present concrete facts. We are always ready to cooperate with him and with the state to get to the bottom of things. No Alavanyo citizen will prevent him from shedding light on the facts regarding the manufacture of firearms and the storage of weapons in his allegation.
We want DCOP Doku to know that the people of Alavanyo can never be treated like children. We will pursue this case to its logical conclusion.
We will expose his hidden agenda and his lie.
We strongly urge National Security to take DCOP Doku's allegations seriously and convince it to prove its case. If DCOP Doku asks the media to apologize for anything, the best we can say is that it is a gadget.
Through this publication, we want the public to be informed that all the Alavanyo blacksmith shops were vandalized by the State Security apparatus in 1983 and that even equipment / tools commonly used to make agricultural tools were all seized and sent to the same command of the Volta Regional Police. And while we are sitting here, no one knows what they have become. With this scenario, how can the inhabitants of Alavanyo manufacture firearms?
Alavanyo is waiting for the evidence of DCOP Doku without which we will provide him with all the legitimate means to do so. He should show us the location of the draws of the 70 AK47 as well as the manufacturing base to which he alluded. He must show them to the security agencies and the media.
It will also be interesting for the public to know that DCOP Doku claimed to have recovered a stock of weapons and ammunition in an Alavanyo-Dzogbedze hiding place during an intelligence-led operation which, according to him, was to disrupt the referendum that had just ended, the creation of the Oti region. One might ask, "What advantage would it have for the inhabitants of Alavanyo not to be part of this region?"
Once again, we found that it was also a deliberate attempt to encourage our brothers and sisters in Nkonya to oppose us, thus disrupting the peace we enjoy today.
We therefore ask DCOP Francis Doku to produce the so-called weapons and ammunition that he has recovered from a hideout of Alavanyo-Dzogbedze in the public eye.
Ladies and gentlemen journalists, thank you for coming and God bless us all.
