Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II instructed Mustapha Ussif to fulfill his new functions as Minister of Youth and Sports.
Speaking to Mustapha Ussif and his delegation during a visit to Manhyia Palace on Friday, September 17, 2021, Otumfuo revealed that he is keeping a close eye on Mustapha Ussif’s exploits and has been impressed with his progress.
He said the sports minister was replicating his progress in the National Service Scheme which he said had elevated him to this current post.
“I have been following you for years now. Your days in the National Service Scheme and now as Minister of Sports. The way you transformed your old office gives me hope in your abilities. I know you will succeed and will make Ghana proud. I am firmly behind you for success, “Otumfuo Osei Tutu II told Mustapha Ussif.
The Minister thanked His Majesty for the warm welcome and his numerous contribution to the development of sport and the development of the country as a whole.
He also revealed to Otumfuo the purpose of his visit and asked for his guidance and blessings to begin his working tour in the region.
He also informed Otumfuo about the renovation works of the Baba Yara sports stadium.
He indicated that the installation is ready for use and will soon be handed over to the NSA by the contractor.
Baba Yara Sports Stadium, which serves as a hole pitch for Kumasi Asante Kotoko, King Faisal and other lower division clubs, was closed for renovation in February 2020.
Phase 1 of the project saw the grassing of the field, the laying of tartan tracks, the fixing of spectator seats, the fixing of an underground drainage system of the field, the installation of the instrument panel and floodlights. all been completed.
