MALAPPURAM: A six-year-old boy from AR Nagar panchayat district, infected with West Nile virus, died Monday morning.

Following the reporting of the disease, the district health administration had issued a special districtwide alert against the disease, which is usually transmitted by Qulex mosquitoes.
