Tumpale Mwakibinga, a Malawian arrested after downloading a meme badimilating the first lady Gertrude Mutharika to cartoon character Rango, was released on bail by the Blantyre Trial Court.
First clbad magistrate Tsoka Banda granted a bond on the following conditions:
1. Payment of a non-monetary bond of $ 140
2. The accused must not publish anything on social media about Mrs. Gertrude Mutharika
3. The accused must report to the police offices of the Southern Region once a month.

He was accused of insulting a woman's modesty, cyber-violation and offensive communication, but he denied all charges.
Prosecutors have requested an additional seven days for them to complete their investigations, but the defense has successfully argued that all alleged offenses are punishable.
