The Teshie District Police Command currently holds five people as part of the killing of a 58-year-old man in his residence in Klanaa, a suburb of Teshie in Accra.
The man, Samuel Gaius Badu, was the victim of a group of 15 very strong men armed with machetes, rifles, knives, bricks and other offensive weapons around 1 pm on Sunday, July 7, when they stormed the Nii Kwei Tse We, a family home in the community.
He is currently being treated at Lekma Hospital in Teshie after being injured in the head, right calf and neck.
Contracted Ground Guards
The suspects, who would be ground guards, were allegedly hired by a Kotey Surprise, a Wulomo of the community.
The said Wulomo would conflict on some family estates with another sect of family members.
Eyewitness report
According to eyewitnesses, chairs had been set for a meeting to be held around noon, but a group of young men came later, disrupted the seats and hit some on the ground, which broke them. .
The family members around called the Teshie Police Station who told them that they would be there soon.
A few minutes later, another group of heavily built men carrying offensive weapons entered the compound and began to wreak havoc.
According to reports, they terrorized, broke into rooms and ransacked many properties. There are claims of sums of money that also disappear after their operation.
For fear, the people around them fled to save their precious lives. Some hid in their rooms while others fled completely.
Victim's account
The victim, Samuel Gaius Badu, said that he had been spotted by the suspects who had pursued him hot.
Siding to Daily Guide, he said, he hid in a room belonging to an old man near the house, but the suspects hit the door unabated to try to force her .
Some threw stones through a window, some of which hit the old man. Not wanting to disturb the old man, he escaped through another window to the side of the room but some of his pursuers saw him and resumed their hunt.
"I fell while I was running for life. They got close together and one of the guys hit my right calf with his machete. I blew a lot, but I managed to get up and keep running, "he said.
While he was trying to climb a wall, one of the attackers was holding him by one leg and pulling him down. They then flung themselves on him and carried heavy blows of machetes, knives and other weapons that they carried on him while the residents looked at him helplessly. They left him after he felt unconscious.
