A 38-year-old man, Salau Abdulmalik Femi, was arrested by the Special Anti-Fraud Unit (SFU) for hacking into a bank’s system and moving around 1.868 billion naira.

The Punch reports that two people who acted as the man’s criminal partners were also arrested. It has been established that he used software to create false loans amounting to N 1,868,900,000 and paid into the accounts of certain bank customers.

While commenting on the case, Eyitayo Johnson, spokesperson for the SFU, revealed that the man made withdrawals while transferring a total amount of N 417,542,000 through online banking services.

In his statement, Eyitayo said that Femi is the leader of the union whose specialization accesses the servers of banks and other commercial agencies.

Others will be arrested

He added:

“The hacker, who demonstrated exemplary mastery of the cyber environment, was arrested after he hacked into the Flex-Cube universal banking system of a first-generation bank.”

Some of the items recovered from him are an Apple laptop and an iPhone. He said others linked to the case will be arrested soon.

Another Nigerian caught

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh previously reported that a Nigerian lady identified as Precious Iwuji was arrested by officials from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly selling her photos and Facebook account to “Yahoo” boys.

EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren said the preliminary investigation found that the photos and Facebook account the suspect sold to fraudsters were used to defraud unsuspecting victims.

It has been established that the young woman was arrested in the Sabo neighborhood in Kaduna, following information that she was involved in a cyber fraud.
