The owners of Manchester City have acquired a stake in the Chinese third-level club, Sichuan Jiuniu FC, their seventh football club.

City Football Group bought the club alongside UBTECH and China Sports Capital, which specializes in artificial intelligence and humanoid robotics.

They are already majority owners of New York FC and Melbourne City FC.

Other investments include Yokohama F Marinos in Japan, Club Atletico Torque in Uruguay and Girona FC in La Liga.

Based in southwest China's Sichuan Province, the Jiuniu of the China League Two will play at the Chengdu Longquanyi football stadium with 27,000 seats.

"We firmly believe in the future of football in China," said Ferran Soriano, managing director of City Football Group.

"We are making a long-term, long-term commitment to developing and developing Sichuan Jiuniu FC and developing the talents of Chinese football."
