Benjamin Mendy posted live on Instagram the spot where Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was dismayed by the suggestion that the defender would be in Hong Kong.
Mendy posted an Instagram article Friday morning with the location marked at the Hong Kong International Airport and, when Guardiola was questioned about the apparent trip of the defender to the Far East, the city's boss was panicked.
"Wow," he said. "I did not know it! F ***, it's a lucky guy!"
"Before, he said I'm going to spend a day in Paris, it's good, it's here but Hong Kong is far away, I do not know, I have to install Instagram on my account to control my players because I do not know!
"Yesterday he was in Barcelona."
But Mendy posted on Twitter to confirm that the Instagram story had been posted as a joke.
"It was just to joke with my super-driver I do not want any problems Pep [sic], "read the 24-year-old's tweet.
And, to prove that he was good in Barcelona, Mendy posted a live video on Instagram in the Catalan city, capturing images of local street signs and car registration plates to check his location .
This is not the first time that the French international has found himself in hot water with Guardiola for his activity on social networks.
"Mendy has a lot of things to improve," said Guardiola after City's 2-0 Premier League win at Arsenal at the opening weekend of the Premier League season.
"Hopefully we can convince him to stay calm, forget about social media a little and focus on what he has to do."
