Sergio Aguero's fitness problems appear to be hurting the head of his boss, Pep Guardiola, before the return leg of Wednesday's Champions League quarter-final against Tottenham.

The Spurs take a 1-0 aggregate lead in the game at Etihad, which means City must win with two goals in advance to qualify for the semi-finals.

Aguero came back from injury in the first leg after missing both of City's previous matches, after his decision to take a 2-0 victory over Fulham on March 30.

Guardiola refused to describe Aguero's problem as an injury, revealing instead that he had "felt something" and did not want to make it worse by staying at Craven Cottage.

The Argentinian had ten days to recover, but he looked away from him when he came back against Spurs and saw his penalty saved by Hugo Lloris after ten minutes pbaded north of London.

City was hoping that Aguero could solve his problem, but his performance against Crystal Palace on Sunday exacerbated the problem and let Guardiola think about his options.

Ville fears that, although Aguero is not severely injured, he plays "in himself" and is not able to excel at a crucial stage of the season.

Pep Guardiola on the fitness of Sergio Aguero

"He is in shape, he needs games to get his best condition. Other players, like Bernardo and the other attackers, are fit and fit. Tomorrow, the physical condition is not great, they want to get through. That's the moment. The desire to get through, the illusion, what is the pressure. If we lose, we have failed and next year we will be back in the Champions League.

Gabriel Jesus replaced Aguero 15 minutes from the end of the day at Selhurst Park on Sunday and scored in injury time as the Eagles threatened to take the lead.

Guardiola must now wonder if Jesus in crisis is a better choice than Aguero to face the Spurs, whom they welcome again four days later to Etihad, in the Premier League.
