Manchester City has a 55% chance of winning the Premier League this season, revealed a supercomputer.
The supercomputer, built by the specialized data unit of the MEN, is for the sole purpose of predicting the league.
City is leading the Premier League after 30 games each – although Liverpool can overtake City this weekend when it beats Fulham. City of Pep Guardiola are in action in the FA Cup and will not play their rescheduled match before April 24 against Manchester United.
However, City is the favorite bookmakers, after catching a deficit of seven points at the end of the year.
Now, the supercomputer confirms Guardiola's men's chances of retaining the trophy they won last season, beating all record breaking records.
The supercomputer simulated the result of each remaining match using each club's Elo rating – a way to measure a team's overall strength – as a guide.
The Premier League has been announced 5,000 times and, despite the odds that Liverpool will top the league this weekend, City finished first on 55% of them. The remaining 45% of the simulations were won by Liverpool.
Tottenham is the team most likely to join the top two contenders in the top four with a 75% chance of finishing third or fourth.
Arsenals come next with 68% chances, followed by Manchester United (31% chance) and Chelsea (26% chance).
